Hearing aid batteries

Zinc-Air batteries for hearing aids and implants, ensure reliable operation of hearing aid medical devices. The Zinc-Air hearing aid batteries available in the BTO store are products of proven GP, Duracell, Energizer or Rayovac brands, distinguished by their long life.

It should be noted that the Zinc-Air hearing aid batteries available in our assortment are dry cells - they are not rechargeable batteries that you can charge in a charger.

What are the distinctive features of hearing aid batteries?

Hearing aid batteries type 10 AU, 13 AU, 312 AU, 675 AU, DA 10, DA 13, DA 312, DA 675, ZA 10, ZA 13, ZA 312 or type ZA 675 from the Duracell Activair, Rayovac Extra, GP Hearing Aid or Energizer Zinc-Air series do not contain harmful substances such as mercury and lead. Hearing batteries are distinguished by their high efficiency at high current drawn from the source.

The typical voltage rating of zinc-air batteries is 1.4 volts. Depending on the hearing aid battery model chosen, the average capacity of Zinc-Air batteries is between 50 mAh and 650 mAh. The cells are distributed in packs of 6 pcs or 8 pcs.

The Zinc-Air technology consists of an oxygen cathode and an anode of powdered zinc. The electrolyte is potassium hydroxide. A catalytic zinc oxidation reaction has been used in the batteries, with oxygen being taken from the air.

The Zinc-Air batteries are also characterized by a very high energy density per unit mass. The theoretical energy density is 180-250Wh/kg. This is due to the elimination of the traditional cathode - its place can be taken by powdered zinc which is the anode. An important advantage is the long storage time, in factory packaging, up to 4 years. The operating time of the Zinc-Air zinc-air hearing aid battery is 3-4 months.

Dedicated to power hearing aids, the batteries are air-activated (special holes have been hollowed out on their surface - it is thanks to them that oxygen enters the cell). It is worth noting that the actual activation of the battery begins only when you remove the special protective film. The protection removes just before the battery is placed in the hearing aid. At this point, oxygen begins to react with the zinc, generating electricity to power the hearing aid.

IMPORTANT! After removing the diaphragm (the protection on the battery), wait about a minute before inserting it into the device to allow it to inflate freely.

How to choose hearing aid batteries?

In order to make it easier to match batteries to a specific hearing aid model, manufacturers use special number and color designations.

  • Hearing aid batteries 10 - yellow.
  • Hearing batteries 13 - orange.
  • Hearing batteries 312 - brown.
  • Hearing batteries 675 - blue.

Add that the most commonly used batteries for behind-the-ear hearing aids are marked 13 and 312. Similar popularity is enjoyed by batteries for in-the-ear hearing aids marked 10 and 312. The least frequently used are 675 blue hearing batteries - these are the most efficient types of cells, dedicated to powering the largest hearing aids.
